The News – Facebook has made a big upgrade to Live, their live video product that competes with Twitter’s Periscope and others. Live now works with Groups and Events, meaning you can livestream video directly with the members of those Groups or with people attending an Event. And Live Filters gives you the ability to add an Instagram-like filter or a Snapchat-like doodle or other artwork to your video.
In terms of engagement, Live now supports Reactions, so you can add a “HaHa” or “Wow” to people’s videos, giving broadcasters the ability to see how people are interacting with and reacting to their video in real time. Comments made during the Live broadcast will be replayed during later views.
Finally, new discovery options include the ability to invite friends to watch a Live broadcast as soon as you start, a dedicated Live Map will show where videos are originating from across the globe.
