Rafe over at CinemaBlend got a cool package in the mail from Overture promoting their upcoming female caper comedy Mad Money. The package, as you can see from the pic, is a box of shredded money with a pair of keys inside it. Attached to the keys is a keyring with the movie’s marketing copy point and release date on it.
Sending a mailing like this to sites like CB – and, I presume, others – is a great way to get people talking about the movie. The film’s getting released on 1-18-08, the same day as J.J. Abrams’ Cloverfield, so if Overture can prompt a bit of discussion to counter the press onslaught the monster of a monster movie is and will be generating it’s a win for them. Especially since, as Rafe notes, the two are not exactly going to be competing for the same audience.
