While moderately better than Sandler’s other straight-to-Netflix feature The Ridiculous 6, this is still a profoundly unfunny movie that was marketed as at least ostensibly as a comedy. There are a few chuckles here and there but it’s weighed down by the lazy, mean and disdainful performances of both Sandler and David Spade. It’s bad, with a “twist” two-thirds of the way through that’s supposed to add gravitas but which is so poorly thought out and developed that it actually comes across as mean and insulting toward the issue that’s used as part of it.
