1) Not sure why there’s all the hate for Billy Crystal recently. It’s not like the guy has ever really been hip but the 10 years since his last on-screen appearance seems to have turned the sentiment of the cinephile crowd firmly against him. But Parental Guidance looks like him doing his Borscht Belt schtick, which is what he’s always done so I really don’t get why folks would be at all surprised. Acting like this is something just for the rubes seems like the worst form of cinematic elitism.

2) While there are other reasons why I want to see This Is 40, I’m pretty certain at least 60 percent of my overall desire comes from the promise of Albert Brooks killing it in a supporting role.
